Mother Nature has left her fingerprints on each of these stones, making each gem as original as its owner.

The color of harmony, love of Nature, and joie de vivre . . .
The emerald is believed to bestow the power of clairvoyance to its wearer. At the same time as aiding in all types of sight, the emerald promotes love and success. Legend has it that the power of the emerald is most felt when worn as a pendant over the heart, on the little finger, or worn as a bracelet on the dominant hand.

April showers bring May flowers . . .
And it should come as no surprise that the brilliant green of the emerald is May’s birthstone. This gem makes a wonderful gift for all reasons and all occasions. Each gem is as unique as the person you are giving it to.

Mary, Mary, quite contrary how does your garden grow?
Well the emerald’s garden, called its “jardin” (French for garden), refers to the inclusions seen inside of an emerald. This “jardin” is formed during the tumultuous events that create an emerald and is unique to each stone. Emeralds with inclusions of a rich color are valued higher then emeralds with fewer inclusions but a paler color.

Anything this beautiful deserves special care . . .
Having a hardness of 7-8 on the Mohs’ scale, emeralds are pretty resistant to scratches. However, it is important to know that emeralds are porous and thus are considered to be a brittle stone. Therefore, they are given a protective coating of oils or resin during the manufacturing process.  It is very important to never clean these stones in an ultrasonic bath. In addition, it is important that you remove your emerald jewelry when using any type of household cleaner. You should use only a soft cloth and cool water to clean your emerald. If you need to use soap, use the mildest you can find.
